Basically, my goal with this song was to convey a sense of raw power and urgency assocaited with a great, dangerous quest. Originally I was thinking of earthly quests but then found myself expanding that notion beyond our familiar planet. I thought about an alien being and the sort of quest the alien might take on. The middle of the piece has several seemingly disconnected sections one after the other (a solo of sorts). These represent the variety of obstacles that the alien faces and overcomes. During the outro you'll notice some odd phrasings. A lot of dissonant, outside playing. This represents the alien's pensive contemplation of what has just transpired. It represents the alien's thoughts of gratitude about having succeeded.
Recorded it with my Diezel Einstein. I think the tone is sweet! But I think it blew a tube and so I had to do most of the ending with my Diezel VH4S.
