The lesson on Harmonic Minor is in the key of G (http://www.guitar-dreams.com/harmonicminor.html).

I am looking for the Harmonic Minor scale in the key of E for all the modes. www.all-guitar-chords.com has the scale in all positions but i don't understand it.

any help is great appreciated.

thanks,
-Annand

Yo, Annand,

I can certainly help with "Harmonic Minor scale in the key of E" - which is to say, the E Harmonic Minor Scale - but as far as "in all the modes" this is probably (I venture to say with caution) a misunderstanding on your part. But I do understand that beginning guitarists seem to get irrationally fixated on the "modes" nowadays so you are forgiven. On the other hand, maybe somebody else will answer this question without qualifying it, exactly the way you want it answered.

Anyway, here's the scale:

Code:

E Minor (Harmonic) - lowest possible position,
one octave scale:

E-------------------------------|
B-------------------------------|
G-------------------------------|
D-------------1-2-1-------------|
A-------0-2-3-------3-2-0-------|
E-0-2-3-------------------3-2-0-|

E minor (Harmonic) 2nd octave, 1st position:

E---------------0---------------|
B---------0-1-4---4-1-0---------|
G-----0-2---------------2-0-----|
D-2-4-----------------------4-2-|
A-------------------------------|
E-------------------------------|

E minor (Harmonic) 2nd octave, 4th position:

E-------------------------------|
B-------------4-5-4-------------|
G---------4-5-------5-4---------|
D---4-5-7---------------7-5-4---|
A-7---------------------------7-|
E-------------------------------|

E minor (Harmonic) 3rd octave, 9th position:

E------------------11-12-11-------------------|
B---------10-12-13----------13-12-10----------|
G-9-11-12----------------------------12-11-9--|
D---------------------------------------------|
A---------------------------------------------|
E---------------------------------------------|

and here's the whole 3 octaves all at once:

E---------------------------------------7-8-11-12---|
B--------------------------------7-8-10-------------|
G----------------------------8-9--------------------|
D-----------------4-5-7-9-10------------------------|
A---------2-3-6-7-----------------------------------|
E-0-2-3-5-------------------------------------------|

all the best - Jack
