thanks for offering to help other members. If you have some sweep lessons you want to show people, the best way is to create your own lesson. Seems a lot of people don't realize it (perhaps because of my bad web design skills...) but there is a very sophisiticated member lessons section here. You can create as many lessons as you want with as many exercises. You can have a My Licks lesson with various exercises. You could have a My Sweeping Lesson and add exercises to it. I know the functioning of the member lessons might not be too clear, but they are very sophisitcated. You can upload tab, MIDI, audio (slow and fast version). The member lessons appear almost identically to my own.

| i'm just learning how to sweep pick and i was wondering if you had any advice on how to make each individual note stand out because my the strings keep sustaining and end up sounding like chords. any help is appreciated. thanks |

| If your problem is other strings vibrating then its probably down to your technique. I know open string ringing can sound terrible on sweeps especialy when your tone is overdriven. The thing is to start really slowly articulating each note clearly and build up the speed slowly. Concentrating on accuracy at the beginning will pay of ten fold when you start to speed things up. This should improve your all over technique. Some light palm muting also helps to clean things up. But if you are in for a quick fix try putting a large hairband around your neck on the 1st fret to dampen those bastard open strings. |

| thanks, that helps a lot. another thing i was doing was keeping my finders in a chord position and not moving them so the notes would continuously ring. |

Iīm having trouble sweeping fast... What also bothers me, is when a sweep has the same fret twice in a row, so you have to use 1 finger for both (or sometimes 3) strings... I really canīt do that fast, and the notes keep ringing, cuz Iīm still using that same finger for the next string... So Iīm avoiding those, but I canīt sweep fast anyway  |

| hey.. im movin on from alt. picking to sweep picking.. one thing im learnign about it, that i ddint know b4, is that for the most part its 1 note per string then switch strings.. for the most part is that correct?.. its brand new to me , this sweep pickign thing.. i mean, ive known what it is for some time, but never bothered to learn anything about it..was too busy with other stuff |

| my advise is do not move away from alternate picking, but instead try to blend the two techniques, some of the best solos on the planet came from alternate picking, sweep picking has its place , its not about being the fastest guitarist. but it is about making good music . everyone has limitations ... know yours, and work on your strong points, and you will develop your own style good luck |

Sweep picking can certainly be challenging, but once you get the mechanics down it is pretty straight forward. I recently became interested in alternate picking arpeggios. Talk about challenging. I guess what got me interested was learning some classical songs that have me alternate picking with string changes/skips. Learning these songs made my alternate picking take on a new dimension. Whereas before, I had very fast alternate picking chops on stuff like scales, etc, I can now play more intricate patterns, though these intricate patterns don't lend themselves to speed. But I find these intricate lines to be more of a challenge actually. So with scalar lines, 16th notes at 200-240 is doable, but with more intricate patterns, 16th notes at say 140 BPM are more challenging than the scalar/linear stuff. Does that make sense?
Anyway, here is one of my exercises of the month, where I played an arpeggio exercise with strictly alternate picking.:

HEY IM MORE THAN WILLING TO ANY HELP FOR SWEEPING, SONGS OR ADVICE. I CAN DO A FEW 5 STRING AN 3 STRING BUT THATS BOUT IT.
