 ok guys, i have a huge problem on my hands. back in november i bought a gibson v (the worn cherry model), and she's great! but i've come to realize that the sound it gives just isn't what i want anymore. i'm really getting into the steve vai and satch stuff, but you can't really pull that stuff on a gibson. gibson's fretboards are flat, which explains exactly why i never really see sweep pickers play gibson's. vai and satch play ibanez, alexi laiho play's esp, malmsteen plays fender, synyster and zacky of a7x play schecter. so should i stick it out and just continue the whole sweeping with the gibson or trade in the v for a schecter c-1 fr? i'm not really much of an ibanez guy, and there aren't any esp dealers in el paso. i can get one ordered, but then i would have to buy it without getting a chance to just try it out. schecter's my best bet and i actually fell in love with the sound i got when i tried it out. please give some feedback ASAP

| schecter's are very nice but really only in the upper $100 range. if you are going to trade a Gibson for a schecter look at the guitar. does it look good? does it have personality? does it have what you want in a guitar.? How do the fretts Look? worn? New? are the fretts Dressed? is the neck straight? is it setup to your playing style? are the strings to high?does the neck have a truss rod? has the guitar been thrown around? But if you think it is a good trade then go 4 it. but use your head. your gibson probably has a higher resell value then the schecter's do so consider that to. |
