Well something went wrong when i uploaded a lesson, in the Riffs and Licks section, can you please delete the lesson called "Riffs By Using Scales".
I don't know what went wrong....
Anyway it's late here, i'll probably add the other 2 excercises tomorrow...

Hey Daz,

Though I tried to ensure the member lessons function smoothly, I may have missed something (the functionality is quite complex so I may have overlooked something...). Can you let me know exactly what the problem may have been? A couple things to keep in mind:

1. First you must create a lesson
2. Any riffs, etc that you want to submit must be attached to a lesson (i.e. like my main lessons on the site)
3. When uploading audio, it will take a while after pressing the submit button (i.e. it takes time to upload the files). Only press it once.

I successfully submitted test lessons (i.e. I deleted them after I confirmed it worked) under a variety of conditions (i.e. with uploads, with no uploads, etc), but like I said, maybe there is something peculiar in your case.

Anyway, I will work with you to get it working.

Ok, I just noticed that you seemed to get your stuff successfully submitted (can't listen to the audio right now, but I will later and comment). I will delete the bad one.

Hopefully others will follow and the member lessons will grow into something monstrous...

later,

brian

Hey we're actually online at the same time Smile .

With the first lesson that i tried to create, i logged in, created the lesson, then while i was at the "add an exercise" part, i looked near the top of the screen and 2 boxes were there(which means i wasn't logged in anymore), and so i logged in then tried to add an excercise, but it said something similar to "you must first create a lesson to add an excercise" even though i chose to add the excercise to that particular lesson. And on the lesson where it says the author, it didn't have a name, so something just went wrong, i don't know what though.

And yeah i managed to re-create the lesson and it all went smoothly, so the first time must have just been a fluke. I will add another excercise today, and i might add an extra one, which will be the little song that i used it in(school project), i'm not decided whether i'll post the song or not though(isn't very good).

EDIT : Oh i just though, is there a chance that you can give us the option to add images to the lesson description(the one you see inside the lesson, NOT the one under the title). Because for the picture of the blues scale in my lesson i used your picture(i don't have anywhere to host images). The problem is that your picture starts at the 3rd fret, whilst i play the blues scale starting at the 5th fret, and this may confuse some people.

Thanks.

Well, when I created the new member lessons, I based it on my lessons (hence they look and function almost identically). I decided to do away with the fretboard image option for the member lessons because I figured the average user would not want to do that, and also, to be honest, I wanted my lessons to remain unique Smile

If you want to add stuff, you really have to hand code some html in your text (like you did). One way to get some space to load images, is to get a free geocities account and use it simply as a means to store stuff.

regards,

brian

I do have a Geocities account, but they don't allow outside image linking, and neither do any other free hosts that i know of...

Well, what you could do is, combine your tab image with your other image using some image editing software - just stack one photo on top of another. If all your exercises in a lesson are based on the same image, you could just do the above to the first tab image and state in your text that the other exercises are based on the same image.

What you could do is add the other image on top of the tab image (using image editing software). Just do that for the first exercise in your lesson and state that the other exercises that follow are based on the same image.

Also, there may be a way to link to images on geocities. There are probably some smart people that figured out a workaround... Just do a search on deja.com

I found a little cheat to get Geocities to show images, you upload the image, then in the file manager you change the file type to a .txt file, then it shows up. Smile
