Hello, great site you have. I have a question about the 7 diatonic modes section though. Maybe I'm missing something, but what key are those modes in? And I'd also like to know - how do I play those modes in different keys - just move the patterns up and down the neck, or is there more to it? |

Hi,
Those are all in G Major. And switching keys is just a matter of shifting the patterns up and down.

Thanks. So, let's say I wanted to play all the modes in A
A major would be:
-----------------------------------------7-9-10----
---------------------------------7-9-10------------
-------------------------6-7-9---------------------
------------------6-7-9----------------------------
-----------5-7-9-----------------------------------
--5-7-9--------------------------------------------
, the Dorian would be:
------------------------------------------------9-10-12--
--------------------------------------9-10-12------------
-----------------------------7-9-11----------------------
--------------------7-9-11-------------------------------
-----------7-9-11----------------------------------------
--7-9-10-------------------------------------------------
and so forth? |
