Searching Made Easy
Searching by Artist
When you first fire up Rhapsody
, one of the first things you'll probably wonder
about is whether or not Rhapsody
has your favorite artists' music. In this example,
let's see what Rahapsody has to offer us Joe Satriani fans.
Much like Rhapsody
displayed Top Albums, New Releases, etc when we were browsing
through Alt Metal, we now see a similar layout of information for the artist
we selected - in this case Joe Satriani. Pretty much every album that Satriani
has ever made is available to us.
Main Releases - see all the CDs that Rhapsody

Searching by Album
Sometimes I will suddenly have a certain album on my mind. Perhaps an album
that I haven't heard in a long time, or maybe a new album that I had heard about.
When this happens I always go straight to Rhapsody
to do a search. Below are
the simple steps to search for an album:
Searching by Track
One of my favorite uses of Rhapsody
is looking up songs
so I can listen to various artists playing certain songs. This is particularly
useful with classical music, as you can hear a piece played by various artists.
I am currently taking classical guitar lessons, and with each new song I learn,
I search on Rhapsody
to hear world class artists performing the piece. By doing
so, I hear the nuances of the different artists - phrasing, dynamics, etc -
and it helps me in my own interpretation of the piece. The same approach is
invaluable for jazz music as well, as you will hear various players' stylings
of standards.

Searching by Composer
Being able to search by composer is a must have for classical
music lovers. Below are the simple steps to search for your favorite composer's
music:
Searching by Keyword
Sometimes I am in the mood for a certain type of music
and simply browsing through genres won't get me to what I am looking for. For
instance, if I want to specifically listen to blues guitar, it might be tough
to navigate through the Blues genres to find tracks that are strictly blues
guitar. But searching by keyword will help me find what I am looking for.
Now that you know how to search for your favorite music, try it on your own
and see what Rhapsody
has to offer!
In the next section, Organizing
Your Music, we will talk about Rhapsody's
Library feature, which is used to organize all your favorite music.
