Hopefully by now, you have downloaded and installed PowerTab. So start the program. I will assume that you have messed around with PowerTab a little bit and that you know how to create basic tablature.
In this example, I entered tab as shown in the screenshot below:
Creating this tab was a breeze. I first clicked on the tab area and chose Music Symbols -> Music Bars... I then chose the repeat bar as shown in the tab. I then clicked on the high E string and started entering fret numbers. After each note, you can press the right arrow to move on to the next note, or you can click to the right. I clicked on the B string to enter the D at the 15th fret. I then clicked to the right of the last note, and once again chose Music Symbols -> Music Bars... to add the repeat bar. To enter the down and upstrokes, I clicked on each note and chose the downstroke and upstroke symbols (you can also choose Tab Symbols->Pick Stroke and select Up or Down).
So as you can see, PowerTab is easy to use. But it does not let you export a tab image very easily. In the next section, I will describe how to actually create a tab image which will later be attached to your exercise.
